On the internet there are many project available where you can donate part of your computers processing power. Using the internet all these computer combine into a super computer. After being part of Mersenne Primes and PiHex I now decided to give part of my server processing power to Folding@home.

Folding@home goal is to understand protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases. Protein folding is linked to disease, such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s disease, and many Cancers. Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. “misfold”), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.
